About 1 Liter

Hello, I'm Howard Glans BSN, RN and I would like to tell you a little about myself to help you understand the “why” behind 1 Liter.  First, I joined the U.S. Army out of high school as a combat medic in the 8th Infantry Division, and earned my emergency medical technician certification.  Upon my honorable discharge from the military, I attended New Mexico Junior College and graduated with an associate degree in nursing.  Working in several fields of nursing, emergency department, ICU, orthopedics and medical surgical, I continued to further my healthcare education. Attending Parker University, I graduated with a Doctorate in chiropractic.  I’ve been practicing chiropractic for the past 26 years now, and recently received a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and returned to complete my nursing degree.  A Sigma Theta Tau International Honors graduate from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. 

Being a chiropractor for 26 years simply taught me that people are either reactive or proactive with regards to their health. It’s always refreshing to see people who are proactive.  To take this one step further, if you imagine a spectrum with health on the left and death to the far right, we find pathology and disease in the center.  Most approaches to medicine lie on the spectrum from disease and pathology to death.  This is where a majority of people find themselves and what in our society is known as “healthcare.”  This isn’t “healthcare,” this is sickness care.  The body wants to be healthy and free from all disease.  True healthcare lies on the left side of the spectrum from health to pathology and disease.  I strongly feel that our focus should be on preventing the disease and pathological state from ever occurring.  Let’s be proactive towards a healthy version of ourselves.  You see, decades working in “healthcare” and "sickness care" have led me to the opportunity that I now have, to expand and promote this belief at a higher level.  This is what lead me to create 1 Liter, and it's my pleasure to proudly present it to all of you.
